Benincà ‘Proper Job Install’ – October 2022 Winner

Bespoke Steel Frame Timber Clad Sliding Gate, installed in Somerset, by AJ Electric Gates and Automation

 

Overview

Situated in the stunning location of Cheddar, a quintessentially British town based in Somerset, AJ Electrics Gates had the pleasure of designing and installing a beautiful steel frame timber-clad sliding gate. The end user wanted to increase security and add value to their attractive property. AJ Electric Gates installed a stunning entrance, delivering style and security, this gate really adds the wow factor to the property.

 

Challenges

When asked if they faced any challenges when undergoing this particular installation, AJ Electric Gates confirmed they were working with a very wide and sloping driveway, but the driveway in question suited a sliding gate perfectly. When discussing the project and requirements initially with the customer, they emphasised how they frequently worked away and therefore needed a practical solution for answering and receiving deliveries when not at home, the Telguard GSM intercom was, therefore, the perfect solution.

 

Automation

AJ Electric Gates installed a Benincà BULL 1224 TURBO sliding gate motor, suitable for powering gates up to 1200 kg. The perfect motor choice for domestic and commercial environments, with its fast 24 Vdc gear motor making it ideal for intensive use. The BULL1224 TURBO boasts an extensive list of features, such as a control unit with an incorporated receiver and virtual encoder, oil lubricated reductions, personalised release key, and a built-in battery charger. The installation includes a stylish Telguard Optimus Intercom, Telguard exit keypad, wireless and hardwired safety edges, hardwired safety edge controller, GRP weatherproof enclosure.

A key feature for this install is the flexibility and control via an app on your smartphone for the installer and end user of the Telguard Optimus intercom and the internal keypad. Using the Telpad II keypad both installer and end user can adjust and control the keypad codes to both the integral keypad of the front side intercom and the rear side stand alone keypad.

 

Conclusion

This bespoke steel frame timber clad sliding gate stands out beautifully alongside the limestone brick wall and now provides the end user with 24-hour peace of mind, with secure and controlled access. Benincà ‘Proper Job Install’ – September 2022 Winner

Stunning domestic gates installed in Marlborough, by Shire Gate Co

 

Overview

Our winner for this month’s ‘Proper Job’ install has been awarded to Shire Gate Co, a family-run business based in Andover, Hampshire. Shire Gate Co has over 28 years of combined industry experience, and are specialists in delivering bespoke gate design, installation, and maintenance. Renowned for adding elegance and luxury to the front of their client’s properties, the installation that caught our eye, was installed in Burbage, Marlborough.

The end user had a set of existing wooden swing gates; however, they were tired of manually opening and closing them. They were keen to get new automated swing gates installed for ease and added security. Shire Gate Co absolutely delivered, upgrading the entrance to include higher fence panels, on either side of brand-new automated swing gates with GSM intercom access control.

 

Challenges

Every installation has its challenges and with this particular project, Shire Gate Co had to adjust the levels of the driveway to allow minimal gap underneath the gates whilst catering for the rise which was approx. 200mm. The image below showcases the use of a non-reducing hinge design, which were bespoke to the gates, to deliver superior strength and structure. The non-reducing hinge is also a feature of Shire Gate Co’s gate safety responsibilities, using design to reduce a safety hazard that has been identified. However due to the thickness of the timber, Shire Gate Co felt that a safety risk was still present, so they installed a safety edge for additional protection.

 

 

Automation

The client decided they wanted underground motors for a tidy and smart installation. The underground motors offered a conspicuous automation system to enhance the aesthetics of the gate design. Shire Gate Co selected the Benincà DU.IT24NVE underground gate operator, ideally suited for gate leaf’s up to a length of 3.5 metres. They then installed an Optimus E1K GSM Intercom with its sleek single button and keypad, this can be seen in the image below. As photocell’s were not suitable for the rear swing zone, Shire Gates decided to install 2x LD100 ground loop detectors to cover the swing zone and protect it from vehicles, using photocells for the outside and adding GF15.25 safety edges on the hinge gaps.

 

 

Conclusion

Whilst delivering a bespoke entrance that meets the customer’s needs aesthetically, Shire Gate Co have also installed a safe gate system. The image below shows the use of an enclosure with isolated mains supply with correct and thorough electrical safety notices. There is also a UKCA mark on the control unit in compliance with current gate safety regulations. Shire Gate Co also provided a thorough and detailed handover of the gate system to the client and left the gate owners a formal handover document with DOC certification and an OEM manual of the gate system.

Benincà ‘Proper Job Install’ – August 2022 Winner

Fernhill Heath, Worcestershire by Capitan Gate Co.

 

Overview

Capitan Gate Co are specialist gate fabricators who work to create luxury and bespoke entrances for homeowners all over the South of England. Over time they have built up an incredible portfolio of clients, including some household names within the sporting world.

Captain Gate Co undertake domestic and commercial work, choosing Benincà products for the proven reliability and build quality. After tagging us in many installations, we have selected their recent installation completed in Fernhill Heath, Worcester to be awarded our Benincà Proper Job Install for August 2022.

Their client had an extremely wide driveway and wanted to add security, whilst being practical for guests entering and exiting with cars. The private road the client’s house is situated on is called Willow Road and so this was the main inspiration behind the beautiful design. Willow leaves were laser-cut into the profiles of the gates, with all fabrication, design, and installation being completed by the talented team at Capitan Gate Co.

 

Challenges

When Capitan initially discussed the project with their client, the main objective was to make access to the driveway functional for their large family. As noted, the driveway was very wide and would frequently have up to six cars parked on it at one given time, so they wanted a solution that allowed for one side of the drive to open depending on which car was arriving/exiting. Capitan perfectly met the requirement, by installing dual-sided gates.

 

Automation

Capitan Gate Co powered the gates with two Benincà BULL624 ESA sliding gate motors which are ideal for intensive use with their 24 Vdc geared motors. The BULL624 ESA has an integrated control unit, along with an encoder device with ensures maximum safety and precision whilst the gate is in motion. To add to the overall gate safety, Capitan also installed two BEA lasers on both the front and rear of the gates, to add a precise, non-contact safety solution that will detect all types of obstacles within the detection field.

 

Conclusion

Not only does Capitan’s installation look stunning with the beautiful laser-cut profile, but it meets the client’s brief perfectly for practicality, with the dual entrance/exit. We are therefore thrilled to award this unique install with our ‘Benincà Proper Job Install’ award for August 2022.

Benincà ‘Proper Job Install’ – July 2022 Winner

“High-end domestic gates in Surrey, by Wentworth Gates”

 

Overview

‘Wentworth Gates specialise in creating unique electric gate solutions for clients who want an entrance of distinction’ and we couldn’t agree more, their latest installation completed in Windlesham, Surrey does just that. Hence, they have been awarded our Benincà Proper Job Install for July 2022.

Their client chose a classic oak raised and fielded panel gate with complex brick pillars and sweeping walls. The job was then finished with additional railings, feature lighting and a bell mouth driveway. The installation has a timeless look, using both reclaimed bespoke piers and cobbles. Wentworth Gates used powder-coated ironmongery and covers, along with powder-coated steels, which work to make the warmth of the oak stand out.

 

Challenges

Each project usually has its unique challenges, and we were intrigued to understand what Wentworth Gates faced with this particular job. David Bell, Director at Wentworth Gates advised; ‘This was a tricky site due to levels dropping 700mm from side to side, so we had to work hard on the entrance level and adjust the wall heights for the best result.’

 

Automation

Wentworth Gates installed Benincà DU.IT14NVE 230Vac underground operators. The DU.IT14NVE is an irreversible 230 Vac electromechanical geared motor that is equipped with an encoder guaranteeing maximum safety and precision whilst the gate is in motion.

The installation also includes a sleek Videx GSM intercom with an integrated keypad for coded entry, this ensures the homeowners never miss a visitor.

 

Conclusion

This is a stunning entrance created by Wentworth Gates, as well as adding major curb appeal to the property, the automated wooden swing gates add a layer of security to the client’s house. It’s a fantastic installation that we were delighted to recognise with our Benincà Proper Job Install tag.
